Two Hornéd Demons
I get lots of musical ideas inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This one comes from two surprisingly small figurines in the exposition “First Cities: Ur.” Two porcelain figurines, ur-Rumpelstiltzkins, not more than nine inches high and dating back 5000 years, stole my heart; this little scherzo wrote itself while I stood and gazed at them in all their mischievous perfection. The sound file sounds like it was recorded in a bathtub, but it was actually the math room at school. I wish someone would animate it. It’s short, but pungent!
